Nowadays, it's almost impossible to navigate the world without encountering those intriguing pixelated squares: QR (Quick Response) codes. From advertising posters to restaurant menus and digital business cards, these small two-dimensional patterns have become a quick gateway to a universe of information. But have you ever wondered what exactly they are and how they became so popular?

A Birth in the Automotive Industry:

The QR code was invented in 1994 by Masahiro Hara from the Japanese company Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota. Its original purpose was to track vehicles and components during the manufacturing process. The need for a code that could store more information than traditional linear barcodes and that was easy to read at high speed drove its creation.

One of the key innovations of the QR code was its ability to be read quickly from any angle, thanks to the three large squares located at its corners. These "finder patterns" allow the scanner to identify the code's orientation.
